Film Studies

While I as at JH I managed to keep the General Studies courses on Film Studies for the Upper School going.   A continuous group of boys every term experienced the common texts of O Lucky Man to introduce them to Lindsay Anderson and his style, to  The Seventh Seal of Ingamar Bergman, and to Citizen Kane.   I was able thus to widen horizons.   Sometimes they were very switched on especially a Patrick Vincent who was immediately interested in cinema and wrote excellent essays about it.   Occasionally I branched out into Bunuel and also other Bergman works, but with just 40 minutes often cut down to 35 it was difficult to cover much.
